The Grade 6 students are getting ready to head off on their camp next week. They have designed and printed their amazing Dilly Bags in their Art Sessions over the last 2 weeks. They look incredible!
We are super excited to start 2017! We are lucky to have a second art space for this year. It is located in a portable at the end of the basketball courts. We have really enjoyed teaching and learning in this new space and the students have loved checking it out too.
This is also the location of Miss Jamieson’s Office
We would like to congratulate all of the Oatlands students on a fantastic year in the Art Room. Our wonderful and creative students have produced incredible work that they should be very proud of. We hope everyone has a safe holidays and we look forward to new Art adventures next year.

Grade 6 students have created some amazing Dragons. They needed to produce a plan first and then follow their planning to complete their finished product. They used sponging, glitter and a selection of unique papers. The dragons were then assembled using split pins to make an articulated puppet.
I think that you will agree that they are brilliant!
The Grade 5 students have blown us away with their amazing Sidney Nolan inspired Art Pieces. After carefully studying Sidney Nolan’s work and looking at the techniques that he used. Each student produced a piece based on one of his paintings from the famous ‘Ned Kelly’ series. They worked on the landscape backgrounds first then added the foreground detail to finish of their impressive work.
You may have noticed the 3 Buddy Benches that have been installed around our school. The Extended Art students have worked very hard on creating the mosaic boards that accompany the seats. The Buddy Benches are there to help kids in a variety of ways and for many different reasons. They are a great way to help kids feel supported in the playground. If you see someone sitting on one of the benches, I would be lovely to ask them to join in.
Welcome back to the Art Room for Term 3.
This term our theme is ‘Under The Sea’. We are beginning with clay creatures. The students have an opportunity to practise their skills with playdough before creating their clay art piece. The older students also need to complete the Design Process to develop their final design.
Keep an eye on the blog to see what the students are up to while they explore under the sea.
